Year 2 recently visited Great Linford Manor Park, where they learned about the history of the grounds and buildings.
The children then took a journey through time, meeting volunteers from the Parks Trust in costume who portrayed notable characters from the park’s past.
They met a medieval peasant who spoke about the foods people ate and how they made their clothes. She also explained what it was like to work for the Lord of the Manor and how people were often paid with food.
The children also met a doctor from the Renaissance period, who described how illnesses were diagnosed and the treatments that were used at the time.
The visit included hands-on activities to reinforce learning, and the children had a fantastic time.
Some of the children shared comments on their experience:
“I had a great time!”
“The costumes looked really good!”
“It was fun to learn about Great Linford Manor Park!”
