On Friday 3 March 2023, fifteen Year 4 TPA ‘Eco-Warriors’ attended The Parks Trust tree planting experience at Middleton Wood Meadow.

They had a memorable, hands-on experience learning all about what materials, tools and techniques saplings need to grow into successful trees that will last for centuries. From digging their own holes, choosing a sapling with roots that will fit in the hole, securing the sapling with protectors and poles, then nourishing the area with mulch. They even got to use a shovel, mallet and wheelbarrow.

Two of our ‘Eco-Warriors’ who attended said:

It was a really nice day. It taught us teamwork because we needed to work together to do the tree planting. It was very nice to be able to help and plant trees. I’ve been going back with my parents and checking on how the trees are growing

R –

It was nice to spend time with friends while planting the trees. It was definitely exhausting planting the trees but was actually relaxing to do at the same time. It will help nature and I love helping nature

Altogether, an impressive forty-five saplings were planted by our environmentalists!
