In Learning Block 4 the Academy took part in Computer Science Education Week and we celebrated it with the Hour of Code. The Hour of Code is a global movement in 180+ countries. 963 events were registered this year in the United Kingdom and The Premier Academy was one of the only four registered in Milton Keynes.
Children in KS2 explored, played, and created with computer science and the activities proposed on the TPA Hour of Code website.
The younger year groups joined a monkey on a mission to collect bananas and unlock a treasure chest whilst exploring and learning the basics of code.
Years 5 and 6 were able to create dance animations with code, developing programs that respond to timed events and to user input and they even had the chance to code their very own Flappy Bird game.
Children also learnt about Alan Turing and Bletchley Park, once the top-secret home of the World War Two Codebreakers.
