Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day took place on Tuesday 7 February and children across the Academy engaged in conversations around staying safe online.

The central theme of the day was ‘Want to talk about it?’ with the children discussing how to handle different situations and considering alternatives to spending their free time online.

Children in Reception and Key Stage 1 discussed what to do if they saw something that worries or upsets them online and who they could go to for help.

Children in Years 3-5 spoke about their experiences of using the internet and thinking about issues that matter to them most, with one activity giving the children the opportunity to vote on how confident they were in handling different online-related issues.

Children in Year 6 had opportunities to reflect on different forms of online communication, explore the influence of tech on their friendships and interests and discuss the positive and negative impacts of online trends including apps.
