This Learning Block, Year 6 children from the Academy had the wonderful opportunity to visit the University of Bedfordshire and experience PE lessons taught by PE teachers of the future.
The children were taught a range of warm-up games and learned skills in both basketball and football, with sessions led by current university students studying PE for their degrees.
This was a unique experience for both the TPA children as well as the university students, as it was their first hands-on experience working with primary aged children.
The Academy children behaved exceptionally well and everyone involved had a positive, enjoyable time.
Some of the children across all three classes were kind enough to comment on the experience.
“It was really fun and exciting to go to a university. The university students were caring and amusing and did an outstanding job.”
“The university students were really nice and funny. They did a good job. The university was huge.”
“I enjoyed Bedford university very much as we got taught football skills and played a mini game.”
“I really enjoyed playing, especially as the nets were so high – it was fun shooting the ball at the students.”
“The university was fun and I enjoyed it all. They made sure everyone’s ideas were taken into consideration and that everyone had a great time. The people there were so nice and polite to us.”
