Woodwind Roadshow Comes to TPA

On Wednesday 19 April, children in Year 2, 3, and 4 were given the opportunity to watch a performance by musicians from the MK Music Co-op.

The 30-minute performance, which was held in Harrison Hall, saw the quartet perform a number of popular songs and demonstrate five different woodwind instruments – the flute, piccolo, clarinet, oboe and bassoon.

The children were shown how each instrument is played and the varying sounds they are able to produce alongside the performance ensembles.

We were fortunate to be able to arrange this for free and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Here is what some of the children had to say about the performance:

It was very interesting and I now want to play one of those instruments.

They are the best musicians I have ever seen.

My dad has a clarinet but they were better than he is!

I loved the sound of the oboe.

I found the music magical, calming and relaxing.
