TPA Flag Flying Outside Buckingham Palace

In the run up to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022, some of our Year 6 children took part in the international River of Hope project.

The theme was stopping pollution in the world’s rivers, and those involved had to create artwork to depict this jointly with children from other countries. We worked collaboratively with children from Fahma Girls’ Secondary School in Palestine and Purwanchal Vidyamandir School in Kolkata, India. They sent us photos of their work, which we included in our final piece.

The artwork included painting using watercolours, sculpting clay, sewing, drawing and creating designs in 2D and 3D. All the children’s work was created using their own ideas, working together and individually.

We were delighted that our final piece was chosen to be made into a flag, which was flown in the Pageant that started outside Buckingham Palace during the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. We have recently been given the flag; it will be displayed in our Year 6 building.

The whole experience was fun as we combined our own ideas together.

It was amazing to know that children in other parts of the world were creating art for this project too.
