TPA Council Present Cheque to Neonatal Unit

Last Friday, 22nd November, The Premier Academy had the pleasure of a visit from Kelly Errington – a fundraiser who works for the Neonatal Unit at Milton Keynes University Hospital.

When babies are born early, have health problems, or a difficult birth they go to the hospital’s Neonatal Unit, also known as a NICU.

NICU stands for ‘Neonatal Intensive Care Unit’. There, babies get around-the-clock care from a team of experts.

For the 2023/24 academic year, the Academy’s School Council nominated the NICU as their chosen charity.

Throughout the school year, the Council operated various events with the aim of fundraising for the NICU. These included non-school uniform days, discos and even the ever-popular Stationery Stop.

With all of this, parents and carers of the Academy raised a staggering £1404.82, which will make a huge difference for a department that does so much for babies and parents across Milton Keynes.

Kelly was presented with a cheque by the Academy’s head boy, head girl, and deputies, and even spoke to the children during assembly last Friday, thanking them for all their hard work.

Kelly commented,

I am absolutely astonished by your hard work to receive this amount of money. It will help the neonatal department enormously.

She added,

What lovely, polite and well-behaved children. You should all be very proud of yourselves.

After such an impressive showing last year, fundraising efforts for this year’s chosen charity are already underway.
