TPA children celebrate World Book Day

Last Thursday (6th March), children at The Premier Academy explored the wonderful world of reading to celebrate World Book Day.

Across all year groups, children and members of staff showed their love of reading by dressing up as their favourite book characters, with the likes of Harry Potter, Matilda and even Gandalf from The Hobbit on display.

The children engaged in a variety of book/reading-themed activities throughout the day, including participating in some live and interactive lessons hosted by the BBC.

Activities included themed quizzes, designing a new book cover and even writing a review about a favourite book or series. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Some children from across the Academy were kind enough to share what they enjoyed about the day.

One pupil said:

“We had so much fun, especially when we had the live lesson because we got to do activities and read our book. We had an amazing day!”

Another added:

“It was fun because we got to dress up as book characters and especially as we were able to join in with the Big Live Read!”

Another commented:

“I got to see my friends dress up as characters I’ve never seen before and we did a live lesson with the BBC. My teacher even sent them an email telling them about our class read!”
