MK Dons

During Learning Block 1, the children in Year 5 were very fortunate to have the MK Dons visit them over a period of 5 sessions. During these sessions the children participated in classroom based activities as well as physical activities in Harrison Hall. The children learnt about the body’s muscles and bones, the importance of nutrition, focusing on a healthy diet and the benefits of exercise on the body. During the classroom sessions, the children investigated the impact exercise had on their heartbeat, by counting their pulse. In the physical sessions, the children focused on coordination, throwing, and passing the ball diagonally, they then applied their skills to a game of dodgeball.

Stephenie – “I enjoyed having the lessons because it was fun and exciting. I learnt that the femur is the biggest bone in the body. I enjoyed learning about bones because I did not know about them before.”

George – “When the MK Dons came to teach us, I learnt that vegetables help your wounds to heal. I also liked learning to play benchball.”

Honey-Rose – “I learnt that you can get vitamin D from vegetables and calcium from dairy products.”
