Lights Out and Away We Learn! Year 6 Head to Silverstone for Memorable STEM Trip

Year 6 children from the Academy shifted their learning into high gear with an action-packed trip to the Silverstone Museum this Learning Block.

From getting up close to some iconic Formula 1 cars to testing their engineering skills in an interactive workshop, the children were in pole position for a fantastic day of history and STEM.

They also had the chance to walk parts of the legendary circuit on the Heritage Track Trail, discovering the incredible stories and engineering milestones behind it.

The children even experienced the thrill of race day on the ultimate track simulator, imagining they were racing drivers, and got a close view of the iconic Luffield Corner at the famous Silverstone Circuit!

Some of the children were kind enough to share comments on their experience, saying:

“At Silverstone, we learnt about the parts of an F1 racing car; to make one, it costs around 20 to 34 million! My favourite thing to do was going out and seeing the cars race.”

“This is a day I will remember for the rest of my life!”

“This is by far the best trip we have ever been on!”

“The models of the cars were phenomenal!”

“Seeing the Mercedes F1 car hanging from the ceiling was amazing!”

“I sat in the driver’s seat of the old racing car from the 1950s!”

“The 4D cinema, where we had to drive a lap of Silverstone, was brilliant!”
