Dear Parents/Carers

Springing into the Break

As we conclude Learning Block 6 today, I want to wish everyone in our school community a restful break. Whether your family observes the religious significance of Easter or simply views the next week as an opportunity for some quality time together, we hope the week is filled with enjoyment.

The Academy reopens for Learning Block 7 on Tuesday 7 April.

Curriculum and Calendars

Please find attached our latest curriculum newsletter for your information. Strategic parental engagement remains a statistically significant factor in children outcomes. Knowing the specific topics your child is studying allows for much more targeted after school conversations. By staying in the loop, we can work together more effectively to spot any hurdles early on.

You will also find the attached Learning Block 7 Events Calendar. From the Year 6 SATs in May to various Parks Trust excursions, it is a densely packed schedule so make sure that you diarise those dates that are relevant to you and your family.

June Promotion

Addressing a recent flurry of parental enquiries, I can confirm that we will indeed be running our promotion transition in June this year. We will ensure this is clearly marked on the calendar moving forward to prevent further unnecessary speculation.

MCAS: Your Essential Guide & Updates

We know how vital this tool is for staying connected with your child’s school life, so we’ve put together some key reminders on how to navigate the app effectively. This guide includes helpful tips for managing payments – ensuring lunch money and trip contributions are seamless – as well as instructions for browsing and booking extra curricula clubs. By ensuring your account is up to date and your notifications are active, you can stay fully informed and make the most of the many opportunities available for your child here at TPA.

Word of the Week

Oology (noun)

The branch of ornithology dealing with the study of eggs. Usage: A highly useful term to deploy this weekend when you need to justify consuming an entire chocolate egg to your family under the guise of rigorous scientific research.

Fact of the Week

It is statistically fascinating that within the space of a fortnight, two major global holidays, Eid last week and Easter next weekend, are dictated entirely by lunar mechanics rather than a standard Gregorian calendar date. Eid relies on the visual confirmation of the new crescent moon while Easter uses a complex calculated formula based on the first full moon following the vernal equinox.

Relying on celestial bodies for scheduling is an undeniable logistical challenge for school timetabling but a clear triumph for the moon’s ongoing administrative monopoly, even though it is getting further away and lengthening our day!

Joke of the Week

My partner went to the shops this morning. I told her, “Buy a pint of milk and if they have Easter eggs, get a dozen.” She came back with twelve pints of milk.

Best wishes
